Professional Standards

These standards are gleaned from contracts we have to sign from our venues. They are the generally accepted standards expected from tose exhibiting and selling our work. If our work doesn't meet these standards, we may not be welcome.

1. Bare canvas may not show on surface or edges of gallery wraps. The image may be wrapped over the edges or the edges may be painted a color or black.

2. Studio wraps with staples are not acceptable.

3. Sagging canvases are not acceptable. Use corner keyes.

4. Work on paper must be properly matted and glazed. Some galleries only accept acrylic glazing. White or off white mats are preferred. Paper with deckle edges may be floated, framed and glazed.

5. Work valued under $300.00 is acceptable for mini/small works exhibits or giftshops.

6. Use permanent materials whenever possible. Work with puffy ink or glitter will not be accepted.

7. Make sure work is secured in frames. Use points, nails or something that holds it securely in place so it does not fall out of frame.

8. All wall-hanging work must utilize d-rings or screw eyes and wire. Make sure the wire is properly placed so it doesn't hit the top of the stretcher bar. It may fall off the wall. If you have a matched pair or a diptyck, make sure the wiring matches so they hang at the same level. Absolutely no saw-toothed hangers!

9. Artwork exhibited must be appropriate for viewing by all ages of the general public. Artwork that is overtly sexual, racist, violent, libelous, slanderous, demoralizing or discriminatory in nature is  strictly prohibited.

10. Bumpers must be plaed on the bottom corners of wall mounted artwork. Painted edges and frames leave marks on walls.

11. All art must be original. Compositions from published materials, other artist's work, from photos not taken by the artist, and gicleés of any kind are not considered original works. (gicleés and prints are fine for the gift shops but not the main exhibit.) Each artist warrants and represents that their artwork is original, that they created the artwork and possess the unencumbered title and copyright. to each work
